Utah's Donovan Mitchell Cleared To Play In Game 2

LOOK: Donovan Mitchell trolls for second straight night with 'Rookie?' hoodie

As soon as it became official that the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder would be battling one another in the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs, Jazz fans knew their team was in for a tough series. Despite suffering a foot injury in Utah's loss to OKC Sunday, his MRI would come back clean.

Jazz coach Quin Snyder chose to yank Mitchell for the final 3:19 of Sunday's loss for fear or severely injuring the foot.

Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell underwent an MRI that showed he has a left foot contusion, and the team announced that his status for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder will be updated Tuesday.

Mitchell impressed in his first playoff game, recording 27 points on 11-of-22 shooting and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes of action.

Still, that the Jazz are expressing even a tiny bit of uncertainty as to Mitchell's availability is noteworthy, as it is not fully consistent with what has been previously reported.

Addressing reporters afterwards, Mitchell downplayed concerns about the injury and said that it was just a stubbed toe. "Right now we don't play for two days so we don't need to try it". And we can not blame him. We'll find out Wednesday night.
