White House says no decision yet on fresh Russian Federation sanctions

Air strikes on Syria will not change course of war UK's Johnson

"You will see that Russian sanctions will be coming down", said Haley, reiterating what she said earlier on Fox News.

Administration officials told the newspaper Trump was unlikely to endorse more additional anti-Russian sanctions "without another triggering event by Russia".

Haley said the three U.S. goals for accomplishing its mission are making sure chemical weapons are not used in a way that could harm America's national interests, defeating ISIS and having a good vantage point to watch what Iran is doing.

President Trump on Monday overruled ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, delaying new sanctions against Russian Federation that she had announced only a day before. "We are evaluating, but nothing to announce right now", she said.

"They will go directly to any sort of companies that were dealing with equipment related to Assad and chemical weapons use", Ambassador Nikki Haley told CBS' Face the Nation on Sunday. "Secretary Mnuchin will be announcing those on Monday, if he hasn't already".

Does anyone know what's going on in this administration? No?

The United States and European allies had discussed a sanctions package in the build up to last week's strikes against targets in Syria, with the American measures said to be further along in the planning process than Europe - where consensus among member states is needed.

Trump last week tweeted that U.S. relations with Russia were at their lowest point since the Cold War - and put the blame at the feet of special counsel Robert Mueller and his investigation into Russian election meddling and possible collusion with the president's campaign.

A Washington Post report suggested Trump had been furious with aides over the recent decision to expel 60 Russian diplomats, believing each European country - rather than Europe as a whole - would match that figure.

However, the White House said Mr Trump still wants U.S. forces to withdraw from the region as soon as possible. "Right now, they don't have very good friends, and right now, the friends that they do have are causing them harm".

"But that's going to depend on the actions of Russian Federation. I think everyone knows that we sent a strong message, and our hope is that they listen to it".
