New Chrome 66 Released: Here Are the Top Features

On the security front, Google has surfaced a feature in Chrome 66 that makes it easy to export passwords that you can then import into other browsers. In case of the desktop, the websites you frequently use for watching videos will also be exempted. The update, according to Google, would ensure that autoplay occurs only when a user wants "media to play, and respect users' wishes when they don't".

"Site Isolation improves Chrome's security and helps mitigate the risks posed by Spectre", said Google.

Also, Google will now give out warnings if any third-party software is pushing a code into Chrome's process.

On the security front, Chrome 66 removes trust for Symantec certificates after the company failed to follow industry security standards.

In "Manage passwords", there is a new overflow icon just before the list of stored passcodes that reveals the "Export passwords" option. Because this is still on a trail run, Google urged its users to use chrome://flags#site-isolation-trial-opt-out if there is an issue caused by Site Isolation and to report the issue before Site Isolation is launched more broadly. However, this policy will expire after Chrome 73, which should be released in January 2019. Numerous fixes Google were contributed by external researchers. For instance, the links in phishing emails and sites that trick users into installing malware on their computer to seal personal information and financial details.

The new Asynchronous Clipboard API provides a new method to read and write from the clipboard, with future Chrome versions adding support for copying/pasting of images and other rich data types.

The silencing feature has arrived two versions later than initially planned, but in the meantime Chrome users have been able to permanently block sound on a site-by-site basis. There you will find information on the browser version that you are now using and how you can update to the latest version.
