Toddler Shoots Mother on Accident While Playing With Gun

Pregnant Woman Accidentally Shot by Toddler

The bullet went through the seat and struck the woman through her back in her right shoulder.

"She was just saying 'Help, help, ' " Todd said.

"There was just blood pouring out of her, we had no idea where it was coming from, what caused it". A 1-year-old child was also in the backseat of the vehicle in a auto seat, police said.

A three-year-old girl who was playing with her father's handgun accidentally shot her pregnant mother in IN, police said. "Someone said someone was hurt and bleeding", said Hadassah Zirkle, who works at Plato's Closet.

Employees of Plato's Closet heard screaming and ran out to help.

Witnesses said she looked like she was shot in her chest, but the extend of her injuries is unknown.

Charges have not been filed, but the father - 21-year-old Menzo Brazier - is being held for child endangerment. He also had a warrant out of Porter County for traffic violations. "He came outside, like screaming, asking what happened, kind of, like, disbelief on his face", Zirkle said.

The children - who were OK - were turned over to child protective services, Petruch said.

The woman's boyfriend was inside the store shopping when the shots were fired.

Some witnesses heard the gunshot, while others recall the woman's screams and then saw her stumbling out of the vehicle with blood "pouring out of her".

Witnesses called 911 and officers arrived to find the 3-year-old frightened and a 1-year-old boy unharmed still in a auto seat.

The suspect was taken into custody after the police searched the area. In this representational photo, police investigate an automobile in the parking lot outside LA Fitness following a shooting inside the health club in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, Aug. 4, 2009.
