Trump Says Mueller, Rosenstein 'Are Still Here,' Blasts Russia Probe

Trump Says Mueller, Rosenstein 'Are Still Here,' Blasts Russia Probe

The president also addressed the special counsel's Russian Federation probe, calling it a "hoax" and saying repeatedly that no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin has been found.

Leading Republicans urged President Trump Sunday not to fire the special counsel investigating his actions or the deputy attorney general who supervises the inquiry. He has said several times the Special Counsel should be allowed to complete his work, a position also expressed by Speaker Paul Ryan and other Republicans not seeking re-election.

Trump said he wants to get over the investigation in this regard quickly and is fully cooperating with the investigating agencies.

"I have instructed our lawyers - 'Be totally transparent.' I believe we've given them 1.4 million pages of documents.and haven't used, that I know of, or for the most part, presidential powers or privilege", he said.

The meeting, first reported by the Washington Post, comes as the GOP chairmen of the House Oversight, Intelligence and Judiciary Committees have demanded DOJ turn over copies of James Comey's memos detailing his encounters with Trump to Congress. He said legislation created to protect Mueller, which is slated to be voted on by the Senate Judiciary Committee soon, may not be needed. "Well, I think it's a disgrace what's going on", he asked aloud while talking to reporters at the White House following a raid on the offices of Trump attorney Michael Cohen. "First of all, I don't think he should be fired".

Days later, Trump said rumors that he was planning to fire Mueller were "Fake News".

"[The investigation is] hopefully coming to the end", he continued.
