White nationalist convicted of beating during Charlottesville Unite the Right rally

News outlets report 23-year-old Jacob Scott Goodwin was found guilty Tuesday for the August attack on 20-year-old DeAndre Harris.

Video showing several people attacking DeAndre Harris, 20, went viral in the aftermath of the disastrous August 12 rally that left one counterprotester dead.

In October, Crews sued Harris, accusing him of assault and battery.

A white Arkansas man faces up to 20 years in prison after being found guilty in the beating of an African-American man during racially charged protests last summer in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The beating left Harris with a concussion, spinal fracture, eight staples to his head, multiple gashes, and a chipped tooth. He says he only hit Harris once, and that he was actually trying to get people off Deandre claiming to the be the person on video saying "let him go, let him go, let him go".

Videos of the attack show Harris running away from a group of men and into the parking garage, where he collapses to the ground before being beaten by Goodwin and three others. The white supremacist added he was scared of dying and that "I'd probably perish or be sent to the hospital and be terribly hurt".

The jury recommended a sentence of ten years for the assault, but gave the option of suspending some of that time and enforcing a $20,000 fine, according to the Washington Post.

Nevertheless, the jury watched multiple videos of the attack that took place in August past year, where Goodwin can be seen hitting and kicking Harris after he fell on the floor. "Or does he outfit himself for battle and run in to do battle?" she asked. Goodwin allegedly wore a military tactical helmet accompanied by a large shield. Alex Michael Ramos of Georgia, Daniel Borden of OH and Tyler Watkins Davis of Florida, are all scheduled for trials.
