Mercedes-AMG reveals 2019 GT S Roadster

Mercedes AMG GT S Roadster Front Three Quarter Look

It has four two-door coupes, three four-door coupes, two customer race cars, and two roadsters.

"The new model represents the ideal alternative for the performance-oriented AMG GT Roadster customer".

Power on the AMG GT S Roadster comes from the familiar 4.0-litre V8 biturbo motor that produces 515bhp of power and a max torque output of 670Nm. The new S model will slot in between the two, doling out 515 hp and 494 lb-ft. A sprint from standstill to 100km/h is absolved in 3.8 seconds and the GT S Roadster can accelerate all the way up to 308km/h. Top speed for the GT S is 192 miles per hour, compared to 196 miles per hour for the GT C and 188 miles per hour for the standard auto. Unsurprisingly, this number sits between the estimated time of 3.6 seconds for the GT C Roadster and 3.9 seconds for the base model. As expected, the GT S will come with AMG features such as the Ride Control suspension with adaptive damping that adjusts damping at each wheel according to current requirements. The auto also comes standard with an electronically controlled locking differential at the rear axle, which is integrated with the rear-mounted transmission. In the rear, there are 14.2-inch brake discs and single-piston fixed calipers. It's the same features found on the GT C minus the rear-wheel steering. Ceramic composite brakes are optional: 15.8 inches in front and 14.2 inches in the rear.

The cabin looks similar too, adopting standard features such as the sport seats upholstered in black Artico artificial leather/Dinamica microfiber, and the AMG Silver Chrome Interior package.

Says Mercedes-AMG Chairman Tobias Moers: "With the AMG GT S Roadster, our AMG GT family has gained another exceptionally sporty member that combines high driving dynamics with an emotional open-air experience".
