Everton sack Sam Allardyce as manager

Sam Allardyce's reign as Everton manager has been ended unceremoniously after less than six months in charge at Goodison Park, according to British media on Wednesday.

He had originally signed a contract until June 2019, after Ronald Koeman was sacked in October 2017. However, despite doing what he was brought in to do, the 63-year-old was heavily criticised for his team's style of play and Everton fans were far from pleased with him and made it known.

Everton have also been interested in Shakhtar Donetsk coach Paulo Fonseca, although he is also a contender to replace David Moyes at West Ham.

Allardyce took over the reins on November 30 past year, six months after leaving a similarly short stint at Crystal Palace.

Having then appointed Allardyce in place of Koeman, Watford felt they received assurances that the Toffees would not pursue their former boss as a summer target, and if Silva is to be named as the next manager then Watford are reportedly prepared to explore their options.

Speaking on April 27, he said: "We discussed plans for next season yesterday with Farhad Moshiri".

Everton scored only 44 goals in 38 outings in the league, the second lowest tally of all teams outside the bottom six, and with the future in mind, the club have decided to make a change.

The former England striker, 32, has agreed a deal in principle that could see him leave for Major League Soccer side DC United this summer in a £12.5m deal.

A statement was released on Everton's website this morning to announce the decision with chief executive Denis Barrett-Baxendale stating the decision was taken "as part of our longer-term plan".

Speaking after being recognised by the LMA for his 1000 games in management, Allardyce said: "I'm shocked, disappointed and disgusted that the football club didn't have the decency to tell me, my Director of Football and my staff about the changes".
