Metro Exodus Has Been Officially Delayed to 2019

Initially slated for a release in Autumn 2018, the story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games is now slated for a release in the first quarter of 2019.

"Deep Silver and 4A Games would like to share some important information with you regarding the release date of Metro Exodus". However, it appears 4A chose to delay the release date by a few short months to ensure the game is up to snuff.

While it's noted that "this will be disappointing news for fans that had hoped to play the game this year", the statement adds that "you will appreciate the results that this additional development time and new release date will bring".

A new environment from the game will be shown at E3 next month though and THQ Nordic are insisting that the delay is purely to ensure the game is so they can "deliver a product that gamers and fans of the Metro series want and deserve". I suppose for now we just have to wait for E3 for more info on what could have possibly caused the delay or just how big they're planning on making Metro: Exodus. Not a blockbuster will be able to compete with new Games, so publishers have two: either to catch up to the release of a Western, either to escape to another time period. Based on the novel written by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, the game takes place in a post-apocalyptic Moscow where the landscape is filled with radiation and mutants. It gives players more breadth to move around the world above the Metro, which takes a lot more design scrutiny and testing.

Metro Exodus is coming in 2019 to Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
