BT Plus will grant you unlimited mobile data when your Wi-Fi goes down

BT says it will adopt an open super aggregator strategy for its TV offer

There will also be significant investment in customer service across all three consumer brands, as well a commitment to answer 100 percent of customer calls in United Kingdom and Ireland call centres by end-2020.

BT has pledged to bring all its call centres back to the United Kingdom and Ireland and is planning a converged broadband and mobile network as part of raft of announcements for its customers. Within the announcements (which basically outline plans to use the best bits of each different service), is confirmation that BT will be the "first to market" with a 5G mobile offering.

"We're going to be the first to launch 5G", he said, describing its aim as "a huge thing". BT Plus customers will benefit from the fastest speeds from BT on broadband and mobile.

After months of trials of co-selling BT branded broadband and TV in selected EE stores, Allera confirmed that the brand would be returning to the high street permanently with dedicated displays in all 620 stores.

The point is apparently to offer BT punters the best combination of services across its three United Kingdom consumer brands: BT, EE and Plusnet.

For Smart Home lovers, EE will offer compatibility with all the major Smart Home infrastructures including Hive, Google, Homekit and Alexa.

This allows families to gift their data to anyone on their account. Details will be announced on 1st June. Plusnet will also launch a new self-service app for mobile customers to view their bill and get help on a range of topics 24/7. Flex customers can increase or decrease their allowance or even take a month's break, and receive mobile data boosts every three months of consecutive payments. As well as offering access to Prime Originals such as The Grand Tour, The Man In The High Castle and Lucifer, the new BT TV app will also allow customers to download and plat content on the move for the first time.

Meanwhile EE will seek to be the first United Kingdom network to offer a superfast same-day smartphone delivery and expert set-up service, which will launch in London first, and they'll boost their customer support via augmented reality (AR) customer service tools, EE Remote Support and EE Virtual Support. It will join the omnipresent Netflix and from 2019 Sky's Now TV.

In time for the kick off of the next football season in August, EE customers will be able to access new BT Sport app features including the ability to cast content direct from a mobile platform to a TV with inclusive data.

Speaking about the announcements, Marc Allera, CEO of BT's Consumer business, said: "BT runs the UK's most advanced mobile and broadband networks, but our customers demand better connections, and the best service no matter where they are".
