Hawaii born Broadway actress injured in tragic crash loses unborn baby

Ruthie Ann Miles Loses Baby After Daughter Killed in Car Crash

Tony-award winning actress Ruthie Ann Miles has lost her unborn baby, months after she was severely injured in a Park Slope auto crash that killed her 4-year-old daughter and another child. This past Friday Ruthie and Jonathan lost their baby, Sophia Rosemary Wong Blumenstein.

In March, motorist Dorothy Bruns rolled through a red light and plowed her Volvo sedan into Miles, Blumenstein, and three others - including 1-year-old Joshua Lew, who also died in the crash - as they crossed Ninth Street at Fifth Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle, Dorothy Burns, has been charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment and assault and reckless driving. Burns alleges that she lost control of vehicle before speeding through a crosswalk.

'The pain suffered by Ruthie and Jonathan is almost impossible to fathom, ' they added.

"At the time of the crash Ruthie was pregnant and was severely injured", Miles' lawyer, Ben Rubinowitz, told the NY Daily News.

And Miles's family filed a separate civil suit against Bruns, according to Rubinowitz, who said he expects the death of the actress's unborn child to affect the case.

A statement from Ruthie and her husband Jonathan Blumenstein on the fundraiser read: 'We wish we could personally thank each and every person in this great community. Bruns was indicted earlier this month. Prosecution told Peoplemagazine that Bruns was arraigned on charges of "manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and assault".
