Jameela Jamil calls Kardashian "toxic" over diet ad

Kim Kardashian Slammed For

Kim Kardashian deletes an Instagram post promoting appetite-suppressing lollipops after receiving backlash for doing so. Kim posted a photo of her with the candy and wrote in her caption that the lollipops are "literally unreal"; she was basically advertising a discount for the lollipops.

Eating disorders are a very real issue for a lot of young people and to see Kim Kardashian actively encouraging her fans to develop an unhealthy relationship with food is terrifying and gravely concerning.

No. Fuck off. No.

The actress Jameela Jamil, who campaigns around body positivity, described Kardashian West as a "terrible and toxic influence on young girls".

"This is incredibly damaging and unsafe", and "Can't believe Kim Kardashian is that rich but still feels the need to promote appetite suppressing lollipops of all things?" "This family makes me feel actual despair over what women are reduced to".

Kim Kardashian West is well-known for divulging details of her dieting antics on social media.

Kim Kardashian recently posted a picture to her Instagram, showing the pop culture icon enjoying a confectionery delicacy - the humble lolly pop. And to play with your kids.

"And to have something to say about your life at the end, other than "I had a flat stomach".

The Kardashians have historically used their social media platforms to promote diet and weight loss products (remember Fit Tea?), and it's pretty unclear why this was the tipping point for her followers. After all, Kim does have a bangin' body, but it's unlikely she got it just from a few lollipops-she has enough money to hire trainers and chefs and generally have a lifestyle conducive to remaining thin. No one should have to feel the need to suppress their appetite to fit to ridiculous beauty standards.

"It's not a bad thing to be hungry or to eat!" one fan wrote to the 37 year old mom-preneur.

People may not follow Kardashian West for verifiable health advice, but surely she knows that her claims can come across that way-even the kooky ones.

The company's website says the lollipops are created to be taken when people experience food cravings.
