Saraki reveals plot to implicate him by IGP

Saraki Alleges Plot By IGP To Implicate Him

Saraki said he felt obliged to share the information with his colleagues because of the gravity of the matter and the grave danger it portends to Nigeria's democracy.

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has alleged a plot by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to "frame and implicate" him.

Following Saraki's accusation, the Senate resolved that the Senate president should lead a delegation to relay the concerns raised on the floor.

In the revelation that appears similar to what Senator Dino Melaye is alleging, Saraki accused IGP Idris of directing the Kwara State Police Commissioner to transfer the cultism suspects, who were arrested in the state to Abuja in order to have their submission to the police altered.

The suspects were identified as Abolaji Safti Ojulari, Lanre Mohammed Soliu a.k.a Askari, Azeez Moyaki, Suleiman Babatunde, Yusuf Habeeb, Umar Yahaya, all from various quarters of Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

"The suspects admitted and confessed before the press and the public to have killed eleven (11) innocent persons in Kwara State and other States of the country", Moshood said.

Other alleged victims were identified with their first names only: Lateef, Jamiu, Segun, Wasiu, Musiliu, another Lateef, Abbey a student of Kwara Polytechnic and Lanre, who was killed on 23 August, 2015 at Isale Aluko Area of Ilorin.

"It is pertinent to state that, there is no vested interest by the Inspector-General of Police in the ongoing investigation into the several murders committed by this killer gang", he said.

The Police have explained the rational behind the controversial transfer of suspected cultists arrested in Kwara State to Abuja.

"All of a sudden they are being ordered to be transferred to Abuja this morning".

It is also important to underscore that the statement credited to the Senate President can dissuade and discourage living victims/deceased families of those who must have been killed by this vicious hired assassin gang from coming forward to give evidence against them.

"The information that he has is for them to try to see how they will alter the statement that they already made in Ilorin and try to implicate the State Government and particularly myself".

The Senate President told his colleagues at the commencement of plenary that he has been informed by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State that the IGP had asked for the transfer of some cult members arrested in Ilorin to Abuja‎ for the objective.

The Senate President says the plot is part of the strategy by the Police IG to settle scores over the declaration by the Senate that he is not qualified and competent to hold any public office and an enemy of democracy.
