The LEGO Movie 2 Trailer Teases The Second Part

These are the words uttered by Lucy that set the stage for a teaser trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, in which the bright and cheerful world has been turned into a Mad Max-esque desolate landscape.

After the success of The Lego Movie, it was only a matter of time before Warner Brothers greenlit the sequel.

Fans began preparing for the trailer's release yesterday, when the official LEGO Movie Twitter account shared the first poster from the sequel. That's easier said than done, though, when they're adding actors like Mary Sue perma-fave, Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz.

Well, the folks behind the LEGO Movie franchise kept true to their word, and the trailer has arrived in spectacular fashion. Are Lucy and Emmet prepared for this new threat?

The poster shows the return of Chris Pratt's Emmet, Elizabeth Banks' Wyldsyde, and Will Arnett's LEGO Dark Knight, among others. It was also reported that comedic breakout Tiffany Haddish would be joining the cast, but her role has not yet been revealed.

The upcoming film was directed by Mike Mitchell from a script by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, based on a story they wrote with Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan.

In fact, if a few choice remarks are any indication, The LEGO Movie 2 seems to exist as a direct response for The LEGO Movie defaulting to action cinema's exhausted old trope of slapping the lead male with "hero" status despite the woman by his side being truly responsible for saving the day proper. "The LEGO Movie 2 will be the first one told through two kids' imaginations - Finn and his sister".
