Man Says He Intentionally Contracted HIV Just To Infect Others

Stephen Koch was sentenced to 50 years in prison

Koch, 25, of Scranton, Ark. pleaded guilty Monday to attempting to exposing another person to HIV, possession of methamphetamine with objective to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, delivery of meth and eight counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. He was also found guilty on eight counts of viewing or distributing child pornography and meth possession.

An Arkansas man admitted to purposely contracting HIV so he could infect others with the virus.

Williams said it's offensive that someone would do something so evil.

Williams adds Koch's actions only prove that there needs to be more education in Northwest Arkansas.

"Just so I can get my brain around this, did I understand the state correctly; Mr. Koch intentionally contracted the HIV virus so he could then infect others?" For instance, Ruth Coker Burks, an HIV educator, said that what the Northwest Arkansas man did was to throw mud in the faces of all the people who struggled with the condition.

The prosecution made a breakthrough in Koch's case after analyzing the staggering amount of child pornography stored in his computer.

Koch reportedly confirmed in court that it was true that he contracted the disease on goal and that his actions were meant to cause harm to himself and others. Koch had also planned a double date with people he meant to deceive, Cearley says.
