Deal done: Watford complete permanent signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona

Gerard Deulofeu has joined Watford after a successful spell on loan last season

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Watford to sell Gerard Deulofeu to the Premier League club for an initial fee of €13 million, the La Liga side confirmed on Monday.

The Catalan giants will also receive a percentage of any future transfer moves involving Deulofeu.

The Spaniard made seven appearances for Watford in the Premier League last season, scoring just once against Chelsea in a 4-1 victory back in February.

After breaking into the Blaugrana first-team in 2011 as a promising winger, much was expected from the four-time capped Spain global at the Camp Nou.

Then after a loan spell at the age of 20 to Sevilla under new Arsenal boss Unai Emery, Deulofeu signed a permanent deal with Everton in 2015.

All did not go to plan on Merseyside and in January 2017 the player was loaned to AC Milan, where some strong performances convinced Barca to take up their buy-back option with Everton.

Back home, though, he was unable to recreate his San Siro form and he now leaves Barca for England for the second time in his career, signing a five-year deal at Vicarage Road.
