Shami fails Yo-Yo test, Navdeep Saini gets maiden Test call-up

Navdeep Saini to replace Shami in one-off Test

The BCCI had announced a 15-man squad earlier but now, Mohammed Shami will not be a part of it after he failed a fitness test held at the NCA in Bengaluru.

Delhi speedster Navdeep Saini, who had a phenomenal Ranji season bagging 34 wickets in 8 games, has been rewarded with a national call-up.

Saini is now one of the quickest red ball bowlers in domestic circuit and has been touted by many as one for the future after his consistent Ranji Trophy performance in the past two seasons.

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Navdeep Saini as Mohammed Shami's replacement in the Indian Test team for the upcoming Paytm Test against Afghanistan".

In recent times, the India cricket team has broken through various fitness levels and has now become one of the fittest teams in the world. The announcement came after Mohd.

In recent times, numerous countries, as well as Indian Premier League franchises, have employed what is known as a yo-yo Test, something that determines the fitness levels of a player. Saini is part of the four-day set-up of the India A team and is set to travel to United Kingdom next month.According to a BCCI release, the team management has also requested fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Rajneesh Gurbani to attend India's training sessions.

Mohammad Shami bowled on the first day of the practice session along with the rest of the pacers, but he was ruled out after he could not clear the fitness test ahead of the Afghanistan test. As he failed in the fitness test, he was replaced by former India Under-19 skipper Ishan Kishan.
