Trump not inviting NBA champions to White House

Trump's statement comes two days after Cleveland star James said neither team wanted an invitation from Trump and they had no plans on visiting the White House. A large group of Eagles players had decided not to attend.

What did LeBron James say?

"It's typical of him, I'm not surprised..." And he was pretty sure that the Warriors were on the same page.

"You know my attitude: If they want to be here (the White House) - it's the greatest place on Earth - I'm here", Trump said.

Instead, members of the Golden State roster spent their first road trip in the nation's capital touring an African-American history museum with a group of school children.

Silver also recognized the voice National Basketball Association players have used in political and social issues in the past, dating back to Hall-of-Famer and 11-time National Basketball Association champion Bill Russell.

"I hope to be in that situation", Curry said.

"I agree with 'Bron", said Warriors guard Stephen Curry.

Looks like yet another sports team won't be celebrating a championship win with a visit to the White House.

Curry said the team has been on the same page after his comments a year ago and Trump's subsequent revoking of the Warriors' invitation.

Curry was referring to the Warriors' decision not to visit the White House after winning the 2017 championship. It's no secret that either team are fans of Trump.

Actually, Stephen Curry and LeBron James jointly decided before Friday's game that neither one meant to pay President Trump a White House visit after a win.

There has been clear tension between many star athletes and the current administration throughout the Trump presidency. LeBron James and the Cavaliers have spent this unusual season in one predicament after the next. "We're not going to invite either team", Trump said to reporters. When told of LeBron's comments, Curry said that he agreed players from either team won't want an invite. We had Clemson, national champion.

In his usual arrogant fashion, Trump went on to brag about his friendship with New England Patriots' Robert Kraft, and how much he enjoyed hosting the Patriots at the White House. "Pretty sure the way we handled things a year ago, kind of stay consistent with that". I think that's important.

Ultimately, Trump noted, for the teams that reject him - the feeling's mutual. He told reporters today that he might pardon Muhammad Ali (whose 1967 draft evasion conviction was already overturned, in 1971, by the U.S. Supreme Court).

Team-mate Kevin Durant also concurred. They are "sons of bitches" - and staying in the locker room during the anthem as the National Football League has proposed, Trump proclaimed, is just as bad.
