After 'difficult' G7 summit, May warns against unilateral action on trade

U.S. President Donald Trump leaves the G7 Leaders Summit in La Malbaie Que. on Saturday

Trump said a photograph released by German Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman that went viral captured a friendlier mood than what the snapshot conveyed to many analysts.

Donald Trump's spectacular bust-up with America's closest allies at the G7 raises the already high political stakes for Tuesday's summit with Kim Jong Un, and highlights the dangers of the United States leader's self-serving diplomacy.

May was asked bluntly by Liberal Democrat leader Vince Cable what point there was in the G7, but May pointed to a number of achievements made during the summit.

If the tariffs are implemented, they will be applicable to all countries, including the US' largest imports - Mexico and Canada.

While there was "common ground" in some areas, she said she was "disappointed" by the U.S. stance on trade.

Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May takes a question as she addresses the final news conference of the G7 summit in the Charlevoix city of La Malbaie, Quebec, Canada, June 9, 2018.

"Fair trade is now to be called fool trade", he added in response to the threat of the retaliatory tariffs against the US. "Here in Canada, our federal government is delaying putting tariffs in place until July 1st", Aylward said.

"To say Canada stabbed the president in the back".

The Trump administration was in favor of the promotion of fossil fuels in a more effective way expressing its clear difference from the other countries as far as the climate change strategy is concerned.
