Google Home can now handle up to three commands at once

Google Home

With there being a number of digital assistants to choose from, each is now focusing on becoming smarter than the competition. Notably, the new feature is different from "Routines" that allows users to train Home to perform a longer set of actions based on their voice commands.

The "multiple queries" feature is now available in English for USA, UK, Canada and Australia, and enables Google Home users to perform up to three functions with a single utterance. However, at least one user says it's working for him in the United Kingdom, so your mileage may vary.

Despite Google's claims, Google Home users seemed to have trouble getting the feature to work.

The announcement about the update was done by the Made by Google Twitter page. For some, this was down to a language issue, or being in the wrong country.

To begin using multiple queries with Google Home, first update your device to the latest firmware using the Google Home app on your smartphone. It isn't live just yet for everyone, but essentially this just makes multiple commands more natural to say. I tested it with several commands for my smart home and I was able to get it to work for two lights (I don't have light groups), one light + one A/C unit, and one light + one scene (Harmony through SmartThings). However, you'll probably use something more along the lines of "Ok Google, turn on the lights in the kitchen and turn off the lights in the bedroom".
