Parents, fans brawl during youth softball tournament

Local police said no one was charged in the incident

A brawl erupted between parents at a 12-and-under girls softball tournament in Tennessee last weekend, the Kingsport Times News reported Tuesday (June 19).

It's a video that's circulating social media.

Video footage shows the spectators punching and kicking each other, as others tackle each other to the ground.

An incident that had other parents shocked and outraged.

"I just felt like everybody was really immature", said Lesli Hicks, a mother.

"I just think it wasn't very appropriate, I just thought they shouldn't be doing that in front of children." said a witness.

The skirmish involved only parents and no players or coaches, but still led to the disqualification of both teams from the tournament in which they were competing, with USA Softball saying they would be barred from future events as well.

Hicks said she is glad to hear the teams weren't from the Kingsport area. "I'm a screamer at baseball games". "Sure there are parents that are out of control but for the most part, what I see locally everyone keeps them self well in check".

The Kingsport Police Department responded to the incident, but there were no reported injuries or arrests. Both teams are located in North Carolina.
