Three things to expect from Leicester City’s new signing — James Maddison

James Maddison of Norwich City celebrates scoring his sides first goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Ipswich Town and Norwich City at Portman Road

Leicester City's reportedly imminent capture of Norwich City's James Maddison is probably not the news one Foxes youngster was hoping to hear.

Maddison is the third arrival at the 2015/16 Premier League champions, following right-back Ricardo Pereira and centre-half Jonny Evans.

The England Under-21 worldwide scored 15 goals for Norwich last season and was the shining light in what was a disappointing campaign for the Canaries. I'm really happy to be here.

"He made a big contribution to Norwich City last season and I'm delighted that he has chose to make the step up to the Premier League with Leicester".

"Leicester just seems like the right fit for me", he said. "I felt like this was the right place for me to be".

Maddison joined the Carrow Road side in February 2016 from his hometown club Coventry City but was loaned back to the Sky Blues before being sent out on loan to Aberdeen, where he scored twice in 14 appearances.

A tremendous second season in the Championship saw him receive a nomination for the EFL Championship Young Player of the Year award as well as worldwide recognition with England's Under-21 squad, making his debut in November. Riyad Mahrez is definitely one, but he is set to be on his way out to Manchester City, leaving James Maddison as the only player who ticks that box. "Of course, he has good ability and also good potential to develop even more, which is exciting for the team and for the supporters".

And when you consider that Barnes - who is likely to earn far less than Jarvis and Wildschut - registered seven more combined goals and assists (nine) in three fewer second tier outings (23) than Wildschut last season - of which Jarvis missed the entirety - Norwich could do worse than to ask for him as Maddison's replacement.

The young midfielder will link up with his new Leicester City team-mates at the beginning of July to begin preparations for the 2018/19 Premier League season.
