‘I WENT TOO FAR’: Peter Fonda Apologizes After Barron Trump ‘Kidnapping’ Threat

The tweet has since been deleted.

President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., called out a political double standard after Sony Classic Pictures made a decision to release a movie with actor Peter Fonda despite his "abhorrent" tweet about Barron Trump and first lady Melania Trump.

The Secret Service was notified and Fonda later apologized.

Actor James Woods used his twitter account to bring attention to the risk to young Chloe.

Fonda's original tweet was sent on Wednesday morning and was precipitated by the actor's outrage over President Trump's policy of separating the families of undocumented migrants at the border, which has resulted in many children being placed in cages within detention centers.

Dussault apologized via Twitter, but his account has been deactivated and it's no longer accessible.

Donald Trump Jr. also responded to Fonda's tweet by reacting to the news that although Fonda's comments were condemned by Sony Pictures Classics, the film distribution company still plans to release independent film "Boundaries", where Fonda has a supporting role, according to a statement in The Hollywood Reporter.

"I tweeted something highly inappropriate and vulgar about the president and his family in response to the devastating images I was seeing on television", Mr. Fonda said.

Fonda further suggested people opposed to the border policy should track down the addresses of federal agents and "surround their homes in protest", adding: "We should find out what schools their children go to and surround the schools in protest".

"It was wrong", his statement continued, "and I should not have done it. I immediately regretted it sincerely apologize to the family for what I said and any hurt my words have caused".

Don Jr. tweeted multiple times about Fonda's threat to his little brother. I wonder if they will apply the same rules to @iamfonda that they did to @therealroseanne. I do believe the children should be both seen and heard And it is our responsibility as adults to educate and remind them that when they are using their voices, whether verbally or online, they must choose their words wisely and speak with respect and compassion. Please RT, we deserve an answer!' he wrote.

"Peter Fonda's comments are abhorrent, reckless and unsafe, and we condemn them completely", the distributor said in a statement.

Sony Pictures Classics called Fonda's tweet "abhorrent, reckless and unsafe", in a statement to Deadline, but said it wouldn't pull or alter the film because Fonda has a "very minor role".
