2019 Toyota Supra Returns In New Teaser Inline Six Confirmed

Sports auto fans will get a taste of the performance potential of the all-new Toyota Supra when a production prototype makes its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

In what is turning out to be one of the most protracted teaser campaigns for a new auto model, Toyota has confirmed that the forthcoming A90 Supra set to make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month will, in fact, be powered by an inline-six engine driving the rear wheels, staying faithful to the driveline layout of Supras past, all but confirming the 3.0 litre capacity shared with the upcoming BMW Z4.

Although it will be closely related to the upcoming new BMW Z4 as the Supra has been developed in conjunction with the German auto giant and will share many components with the new Z4, the two cars are going to look very different from each other. Created by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, this concept heralded the return of the Supra name when it was unveiled at this year's Geneva Motor Show.

Toyota has confirmed that a prototype of the new Supra sports coupe will make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, on from 12-15 July at the stately home of the Earl of March.

Shown in the image above alongside the previous concept, the latest prototype is heavily camouflaged in a red, white, black, and grey camouflage wrap to disguise its form.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing also competes at the highest global level in the FIA World Rally Championship with the Yaris WRC, claiming two victories in its debut season in 2017 and scoring a win on Rally Argentina and a number of podium finishes so far this year.
