Adult film star Stormy Daniels arrested in OH strip club 'setup'

Stormy Daniels has been arrested at a strip club in OH after allowing a patron to touch her while she was performing.

Stormy Daniels was arrested at an OH strip club early Thursday after allegedly violating an "obscure" state law, per CNN-though her lawyer claims it was a set-up.

The police report states that Daniels, while topless and wearing a G-string, allegedly put both of her hands on an officer's buttocks, placed both hands on an officer's breast, and then put her breasts in an officer's face. There has to be higher priorities! We will fight all bogus charges.

'This was a setup and politically motivated.

Avenatti says Daniels has received a misdemeanor and will be "released shortly".

The Community Defense Act was passed in OH in 2007 after the conservative religious group Citizens for Community Values lobbied heavily for rules against strip club operations. According to the law, only family members can touch a nude or semi-nude dancer.

Daniels was reportedly headlining a performance at the Sirens Gentlemen's Club in Columbus, Ohio.

The court documents also did not specify whether or not Clifford was taken into custody.

Columbus police tell CBS News they're not aware of Daniels being arrested, and as of early Thursday, Daniels wasn't being held by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department. A person who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment.

"We will vehemently contest all charges", he said.

Daniels made headlines worldwide over revelations of an alleged affair with Trump in 2006 - and for the $130,000 she said she received from his attorney in 2016 in exchange for her silence.

Daniels became a household name earlier this year after she claimed she had sex with Trump in 2006.

In February, Cohen, the longtime personal lawyer for Trump admitted he paid US$130,000 (NZ$177,500) to the adult-film star, after previously dismissing stories about the payment.

Mr Avenatti later said his client would plead not guilty to all three misdemeanour charges, and also posted a statement from Ms Daniels saying she would not be able to go ahead with tonight's show. He initially said he used his own money to pay Daniels and was not reimbursed by Trump.
