Fulham sign Jean Michael Seri and Maxime Le Marchand from Nice

Maxime Le Marchand also joins from Nice

Newly promoted Fulham completed the signing of midfielder Jean Michael Seri from Nice on Thursday, with the Ivory Coast worldwide penning a four-year deal at Craven Cottage.

Seri, 26, was close to completing a move to FC Barcelona a year ago before the move collapsed with Nice reluctant to let their star midfielder leave after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

The Ivory Coast international's arrival can be considered a huge coup for the newly-promoted Cottagers given he nearly joined Barcelona last summer - and was a target for Chelsea this time around.

Fulham owner Tony Kahn tweeted: "I'm delighted to announce that Fulham FC has signed midfielder Jean Michael Seri from Nice".

'He's been at the very top of our target list for a long time.

Seri moved to Europe from his homeland in 2012 when he joined Porto on loan, before switching to fellow Primeira Liga side Pacos de Ferreira the following year.

The Blues, though, appear to be closing in on a deal to sign Italy worldwide Jorginho from Serie A side Napoli, which perhaps explains why their interest in Seri may have cooled.

"I'm also happy to have joined up with a good friend, Jean Michael Seri".

Speaking at Motspur Park on Thursday morning, Seri told Fulham's official website: "It was a long day yesterday so it was great to get the move finalised".

"I'm ready to get started and looking forward to meeting the squad and getting to know them, the head coach and his staff better", Seri said.
