FX's Y: The Last Man Casts Diane Lane & Barry Keoghan

Diane Lane has been cast as Yorick's mother, Senator Jennifer Brown, "A Junior Senator in her first term, Senator Brown has already made a name for herself in political circles for her willingness to put personal ideals above politics".

This man's career is going from strength to strength.

.

Just three months after FX announced they'd be turning Guerra and Brian K. Vaughan's beloved graphic novels into a series with Luke Cage's Aida Mashaka Croal and American Gods' Michael Green serving as co-showrunners, the network has announced their cast and it is stellar.

The long-gestating project - which landed a formal pilot order in April after almost three years of development - takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a cataclysmic event has decimated every male mammal, save for one lone human (and his pet monkey).

Y tells the story of a dystopian future in which all male mammals have been wiped out by a cataclysmic event - all except for one remaining man, Yorick (Dunkirk's Barry Keoghan).

Lane, 53, will play Sen.

Imogen Poots will play Yorick's sister, Hero Brown, an EMT who eventually joins up with the apocalypse cult of the Amazons before going down her own path.

Now living in a world entirely filled with women, Yorick heads out on a mission to discover why the tragedy befell the world and to look for his girlfriend Beth, who he last heard was halfway across the world in Australia.

Y is an incredibly cinematic comic, and if it has to exist outside that medium, I'm glad to see it come together as a long-form TV show instead of trying to cram 60 issues of story into one film (or maybe a trilogy).

Ireland portrays Nora, the President's senior assistant and right hand. "She effortlessly balances family life with a job navigating the corridors of power".

Melina Matsoukas (Insecure, Master of None, Beyonce: Formation) will direct the pilot, which will be produced by FX Productions. After years as a potential movie, Blade Runner 2049's Michael Green and Luke Cage veteran Aïda Mashaka Croal are shepherding a pilot for a series on United States network FX.
