‘I think they like me a lot in the UK’

President Donald Trump gestures as he speaks at the National Rifle Association annual convention in Dallas Friday

Hundreds of thousands are predicted to come on to the streets to demonstrate against a man they described as "dangerous and divisive".

Meanwhile, Theresa May's government is nervously anticipating disruption from the guest himself.

Tomorrow, May and Trump will visit an unnamed defence site to view a demonstration of UK military capabilities, as a showcase of integrated UK-US military training.

That turmoil includes the resignations of May's Brexit and foreign ministers over her plan to retain close ties with the European Union after leaving the bloc in March.

Widespread protests opposing President Trump's stay begin Thursday evening and continue through Friday night.

"There is no stronger alliance than that of our special relationship with the U.S. and there will be no alliance more important in the years ahead", May said ahead of the visit.

"Boris Johnson's a friend of mine, he's been very nice to me, very supportive and maybe I'll speak to him when I get over there".

Gardner, who works with refugees as part of her doctoral research at the London School of Economics, said Trump's speeches about refugees and immigrants are "a very unsafe line of rhetoric to be normalized".

Speaking in Brussels as he wrapped up a contentious North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit, Trump shrugged off concerns over demonstrations, saying he had "great friendships" in Britain, where his mother was born. But instead of attending business in London, which is what most heads of state who arrive in the United Kingdom do, Trump will head to a business sector gala at Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill which is outside the city. On Friday, the two leaders will participate in a bilateral meeting and joint press conference.

For Gorgeous, Trump has singled out marginalised groups in his presidency.

A giant inflatable "Trump baby" will not be allowed to fly over the U.S. president's Turnberry golf course when he visits over the weekend, Police Scotland have said.

Mr Trump with meet with UK Prime Minister Theresa May and the Queen.

On Saturday, Trump supporters will rally near the United States embassy in Nine Elms, south London, for an event titled "Welcoming Trump to Britain Rally - Make Britain Great Again", at which a number of right-wing figures are scheduled to speak. "I'd like to see them be able to work it out so it could go quickly, whatever they work out".

"From the public, the welcome will be far from warm", he told lawmakers on Wednesday, noting there would be protests across the country against Trump's "abysmal record on human rights, his repugnant attitude towards women and his disgusting treatment of minorities".

"The Mayor of London gave the permission [for the blimp to fly] and, you know, it's disgusting and it should never have happened", he said.

Mr Khan defended the blimp baby: "There are two issues; one is the freedom to protest and the right to free speech and the second is our issues on President Trump".

The Trumps will have left town the night before for Scotland, where the President owns two golf properties, Trump Turnberry and Trump Aberdeen. The issue is 'Do they have freedom to protest, freedom to assemble and should they be allowed to do so?
