Oppo Find X all set to launch in India today

Oppo Find X will be exclusive to Flipkart in India. Oppo Find X Lamborghini edition coming to India'very soon, says the company

OPPO on Thursday launched its flagship smartphone "Find X" in India for Rs 59,990.

"The "Find" series represents OPPO's innovative spirit that believes that a smartphone isn't just a communication tool but also a piece of art", said Charles Wong, OPPO's Assistant Vice President and OPPO India President. It is a big gamble, and if it succeeds Oppo can become a true challenger to Apple in the coming years. The display screen sports 93.8 per cent screen-to-body ratio which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

At its launch in Paris, the Oppo Find X price was set at Euro 999 (roughly Rs. 79,000) for its 8GB RAM, 256GB storage variant, known as the Super Flash edition in China, with availability in August. Oppo has managed to shrink down bezels completely. It also boasts Apple iPhone X-like Animoji capability and is being called "Omoji". The front has a 6.4-inch curved Amoled display (without a notch) giving it a screento-body ratio of 93%. The colours were accurate and details sharp. The main underlines of the upcoming Find X smartphone are an all-glass body, AI-based portrait mode, 3D facial recognition, Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage and fast charging. In the camera department, it has a 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup with OIS on the rear and a 8MP front camera. OPPO claims that the sliding operations of the camera are smooth and it takes only 0.5 seconds to pop-up. The Vivo Nex also uses a pop-up module, but only for its selfie camera. In fact, a dual-camera setup on the Nex is positioned on the back of the phone.

The smartphone houses a 25MP AI-enhanced front camera with "3D AI Beauty Technology" that enhances the accuracy of facial recognition with 296 facial feature points, along with the 16MP+20MP rear dual camera system. Also, note that the device lacks a fingerprint sensor. The Find X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with octa-core CPU, 8GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage.

Interestingly, there is no fingerprint scanner and the phone relies on the front camera as a biometric tool to unlock the phone. For added precision and security, it uses 15-dot, 3D facial recognition. On paper, at least, I am convinced about the performance of the smartphone.

Oppo Find X is fuelled by a 3,730mAh battery along with support for the company's VOOC fast charge technology.

It's Oppo's most expensive phone to date, and represents a huge jump for the brand that made a name for itself with affordable but solid phones whose selfie cameras were marketed heavily. Out of the box, the smartphone will run Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.1 on top of it.

To go with the new design philosophy, Oppo had to make a few compromises as well.

The cameras pop up from the top portion of the phone, which allowed Oppo to remove the "notch" as seen on the iPhone X and lots of other Android phones thereafter. It has the world's first stealth 3D cameras with Artificial Intelligence (AI) infused into it and a sliding structure that almost mirrors the way a semi-DSLR camera works.
