Roy Keane tears into England fans for getting carried away

England vs Croatia World Cup 2018 semi final

Keane had missed the last few games of ITV's coverage from Russian Federation but he will be there for the final, on Sunday, and was in-situ for the semi-final clash between England and Croatia.

"It's Coming Home" has been the mantra of England fans, and sometimes even the players, for the last month and supporters were excitedly dreaming of taking on France in the final.

Keane may not have been impressed by Wright's attempts to mimic his Irish accent as voices were raised in the ITV studio, but the discussion appeared to end on a good note, with fellow panelists Gary Neville and Lee Dixon doing their best not to laugh as the duo went toe-to-toe.

In his typical Corkonian style, Keane dismissed the arrogance of some England fans, who assumed that an appearance in the final was a foregone conclusion.

"I made the point a few weeks ago, tongue in cheek, but you have to focus on one game".

Kane is every defender's nightmare and, with six goals to his name at the tournament, the Englishman is raring to go as the Three Lions look to win their second ever World Cup. We were happy, you weren't happy for us to be happy at that time, ' Wright said.

But Keane remains stony-faced, replying: "You were getting carried away".

"You were talking about the final". You were planning the final, where the parades were. "You need a reality check".

The quartet of former footballers were last together earlier in the tournament and viewers got a real kick out of Keane telling his colleagues to cool the jets after they beat Panama 6-1.

Mario Mandzukic settled the tie 10-minutes from time to send the tiny nation into their first World Cup final.

And on the brink of the final, getting that all important first goal was the dream in both dugouts - after all, one is all it took to settle France vs Belgium.

'It was all about the final. You know what I'm talking about, relax yourself'.
