Sony Xperia XA2 Plus brings high-res audio to the mid-range

Sony has launched a new phone under its Xperia XA series which is dubbed as Sony Xperia XA2 Plus. The specifications of the two smartphones are very similar, but the XA2 Plus has its own design language using a diamond cut manufacturing process that sets it apart from the XA2 Ultra, and indeed most of its direct competition.

After the release of the latest flagship, the Xperia XZ2 Premium, Sony is expected to release yet another high-end offering the future only this time, the upcoming Xperia XZ3 is expected to be a real champ in the optics department.

Though the post did not reveal the price, Xperia XA2 Plus is expected to be a mid-range smartphone. Based on Android Oreo, it runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, which is backed by 4GB/6GB RAM. It has a 6.0-inch FHD+ screen covered with Gorilla Glass 5. It will be available in green, silver, gold, and black when it goes on sale in late August 2018. "Xperia XA2 Plus further improves on that with a reimagined 18:9 display, Sony's Hi-Res Audio and powerful camera technology, to offer a unique content consumption and creation device for consumers at this section of the market". The phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 400GB via a microSD card.

For optics, the smartphone sports a 23MP rear camera with Hybrid autofocus, 84-degree wide-angle lens, and 4K video recording support. Meanwhile, it also gets an 8MP selfie sensor, with f/2.4 aperture and a 120-degree wide-angle lens. A 3580mAh battery backs the device with Qnovo adaptive charging and Quick Charge 3.0. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 3G.
