All evacuees were blindfolded as they were moved from Tham Luang to the hospital, to protect eyes that had not seen sunlight for two weeks.

The video shows the boys in an isolation ward in beds with crisp white sheets and wearing green surgical masks.

None of the boys was heard speaking in the clips shown at the news conference.

Doctors say the rescued boys and their coach are each about two kilograms lighter - but are otherwise in pretty good health.

They were taken by helicopter to a hospital about 70 kilometres away to join their team mates in quarantine for the time being.

Jesada Chokdumrongsuk (centre), deputy director-general of the Public Health Ministry, speaks during a press conference at a hospital in Chiang Rai province, northern Thailand, on July 10, 2018.

Even so, all need to be monitored in the hospital for a week and then rest at home for another 30 days, he said.

They were also instructed to wear protective suits, following precautionary measures, with authorities fearing the boys could have picked up unsafe infections during their time in the cave. Authorities are anxious about the possibility of infections picked up in the cave.

Rescue mission chief Narongsak Osottanakorn thanked people in Thailand and from around the world soon after the final rescues were completed.

"The important thing is. personal space", Prayuth told reporters. "When I visited them, I also told them to be good citizens".

The other boys reportedly banded together to buy snacks for his birthday, and it is thought these snacks helped sustain them after getting trapped in the caves.

After nine days, British rescue divers found the missing group in a half-flooded chamber of the cave, where water was slowly building up.

Getting them out - which involved teaching boys as young as 11 who were not strong swimmers to dive through narrow, submerged passages - proved a monumental challenge. Highlighting the dangers, a former Thai navy SEAL volunteering to work on the rescue died Friday while replenishing oxygen canisters placed along the escape route.

The boys, who could not swim or dive, had to endure zero visibility conditions lasting up to 30 minutes, the leader of the U.S. contingent of the operation revealed.

He said: "We are not heroes".

"This is clearly a time of grief for the Harris family, magnified by the physical and emotional demands of being part of this week's highly complex and ultimately successful rescue mission". "For SEALs, this is what we were trained for". The navy has a motto: "We don't abandon the people".

"My wife actually grew up with the Thai Navy SEAL that died in the cave".

Social media has been abuzz for days with chatter about the inevitable "Thailand Cave Rescue: The Movie". "We would love to welcome the team from Wild Boars Football Club and their rescuers to Old Trafford this coming season".

Paul Pogba, a midfielder with Manchester United and the France national team, dedicated Tuesday's French victory over Belgium in the World Cup semifinals to the boys.
