Theresa May urges Tory backbenchers to keep Jeremy Corbyn out of power

Sir Keir Starmer has waded into a row over Labour's new anti Semitism guidance

He said it is conceivable there is "no majority in Parliament for any Brexit deal" and if this was the case then the party has to look at all options.

Sir Keir also told the programme Labour wanted a customs union that "does the work of the customs union".

"It does feel like the Government is in meltdown and the difficulty with that is that there are millions of families out there who need this deal to go through".

UK's foreign secretary, Boris Johnson, resigned Monday following the resignation of Brexit's top leader, David Davies, hours earlier, in a sign the United Kingdom government is crumbling while trying to negotiate a deal to leave the European Union.

Labour seemed to have backtracked slightly on its talk of a second referendum recently.

Johnson resigned as foreign secretary in protest at May's Brexit trade deal which proposes that the United Kingdom continues to follow European Union regulations in return for a free trade agreement.

He stressed that Labour was not calling for a "people's vote" on the deal but "the sensible thing is to keep all our options on the table".

But shadow global trade secretary Barry Gardiner told the programme "it is absolutely not our policy" to have a second referendum.

Labour peer and former European Union commissioner Lord Mandelson said the party should explicitly commit to a second vote.

He said the UK's best interests and the best economic interests are "not the same thing" and the referendum result had to be respected.

"We're over two years on from the referendum, two years of soundbites, indecision and cabinet infighting, culminating in a series of wasted opportunities with more and more people losing faith that this government is capable of delivering a good Brexit deal and that is within her own cabinet", Corbyn said in the wake of the spate of ministerial resignations.
