YORICK, HERO, AGENT 355, More Cast in FX's Y: THE LAST MAN

Y The Last Man Cast Announced Barry Keoghan to Star

Based on Vaughan and Guerra's comics, which detailed an apocalyptic contagion that decimated all of the male mammalians across the planet save one, Y: The Last Man is beginning to sound like a pretty faithful adapation - at least in terms of the cast's characters descriptions.

He is described as a young man quick to use humor to deflect from his problems who may be the lone male survivor of a worldwide plague. A tough and confident EMT, Hero nurses a deep emotional trauma that often leads her to cross personal and professional lines.

Lashana Lynch (the upcoming Captain Marvel) is set to play Agent 355, "a Secret Service agent who performs the duties of her job with the utmost professionalism - even under the most unexpected circumstances".

Now living in a world entirely filled with women, Yorick heads out on a mission to discover why the tragedy befell the world and to look for his girlfriend Beth, who he last heard was halfway across the world in Australia. A Brooklyn-based knife maker, Beth grew up on a farm and went to NY to experience the big city. Canfield will play Beth, one of Yorick's romantic interests, and Ireland will play Nora, an aide to the president. "She effortlessly balances family life with a job navigating the corridors of power". The series is executive produced by American Gods co-showrunner Michael Green and Luke Cage EP Aïda Mashaka Croal along with Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and Brian K. Vaughn. Vaughan will be an EP on the potential series.

With Melina Matsoukas as director of the pilot, the show will now have to pass muster with executives if it's to move forward.

No premiere date for Y: The Last Man has been announced. The series was published between 2002 and 2008, winning three Eisner awards and a Hugo Award in the process.
