Godzilla Vs. Kong Looks To Be Adding A Black Panther Star

A new report reveals that Gurira, who recently starred in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, is being eyed for a potential role in Star Trek 4, which will serve as a follow-up to 2016's Star Trek Beyond.

Next up for Gurira is the ninth season of The Walking Dead on AMC where she'll return as Michonne. Plot details now remain under wraps but should Gurira close a deal, she'll join the cast which includes stars of the Godzilla sequel Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler, as well as Deadpool 2 star Julian Dennison.

The film directed by Adam Wingard (Death Note) will be Legendary's fourth installment of its cinematic MonsterVerse and will follow Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Bobby Brown will be reprising her role from Godzilla: King of Monsters, which just released a series of first images this week via Entertainment Weekly.

Bobby Brown plays the daughter of Vera Farmiga's Dr. Emma Russell from the beast-hunting organization Monarch, and of Kyle Chandler's Mark Russell, who embarks on a rescue mission with two stars from the original Godzilla, Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins.

Additionally, Gurira is said to be in negotiations for a starring role in the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong crossover monster movie.

But that's not the only major franchise film that Gurira is circling.

As for Star Trek, while there are now multiple Trek films in development at Paramount, Deadline affirms that Gurira is now circling the forthcoming fourth installment. The cast for that movie has slowly been assembling, and now it looks like none other than Walking Dead and Black Panther actress Danai Gurira may be stepping into the action packed project. Hemsworth made a brief but memorable appearance in J.J. Abrams' first Star Trek movie before heroically giving his life in the cold open.
