Kylie Jenner's Forbes Cover Calling Her A 'Self-Made' Billionaire Receives Backlash

Two Indian-origin techies listed in Forbes list of America's wealthiest self-made women

On Wednesday, Kylie Jenner graced the cover of Forbes' August issue, which ranked her as one of the most successful women entrepreneurs in America. The magazine highlighted the fact that the 20-year-old Jenner is on the way to becoming the "Youngest Self-Made Billionaire", unseating the current titleholder Zuckerberg who had his first billion at 23-years-old. "Welcome to the era of extreme fame leverage".

"Despite the fact that Kylie is a master of branding and has made an nearly billion-dollar business off her lips and cosmetics, once Stormi was born, Kylie realized she was a mother first, and that is a big reason she has been sporting the more natural look", the source adds.

CNN has not confirmed that total, and since her company is privately, 100% owned by Jenner, she's not required to report her finances publicly.

"Calling Kylie Jenner a "self-made billionaire' is like claiming you made soup from scratch because you opened a can and reheated it", while another posted on Twitter: "For f*** sake, if you start the 40-yard dash on the 39-yard line, you are NOT self-made". Her story is not inspiring or motivating for anyone". Self-made. Even Dictionary.com roasted the magazine for the title, Tweeting yesterday "Self-made means having succeeded in life unaided". Netizens are pointing out the fact that Jenner shouldn't be called "self-made" as she was born into an already rich family. Used in a sentence: "Forbes says that Kylie Jenner is a self-made woman". Her success is commendable but it comes by virtue of her privilege. "Words have meanings and it behooves a dictionary to remind us of that".
