Melania Trump and new BFF Philip May meet the Chelsea Pensioners

United States first lady Melania Trump took her "Be Best" platform overseas on Friday, visiting with schoolchildren and veterans at an event hosted by Philip May, husband of British Prime Minister Theresa May, at Royal Hospital Chelsea.

The First Lady, 48, stepped out in a statement dress by British designer Victoria Beckham this morning.

US First Lady Melania Trump (2L) and the British prime minister's husband Philip May (L) stand with school-children waving flags during a visit to the Royal Chelsea Hospital in London on July 13, 2018.

But those hoping to emulate Melania's look can only do so with a Trump sized salary with the dress coming in at an eye-watering £1,550.

Mrs Trump and Mr May met the Chelsea Pensioners and local schoolchildren and even enjoyed a game of bowls on the green, and judging by the pictures it looks like Melania got the hang of the game pretty quickly.

Despite her stilettos the mother-of-one was able to take part in the game tottering on the grass as she joined local children for the classic British game.

With the special visit of the First Lady, Chelsea Pensioners sported their Scarlets on Friday.

Meanwhile the President and Mrs May, who attended a military display together this morning, are preparing for a work lunch at Chequers.

Later on Friday Melania will be dressing to impress Her Majesty the Queen, who will welcome her and Donald at Windsor Castle for afternoon tea.

Founded by King Charles II in 1682, Royal Hospital Chelsea is not actually a hospital, but rather, a home for retired soldiers, known as the Chelsea Pensioners.

Since arriving in the United Kingdom on Thursday, Melania Trump has been impressing with her array of outfit choices.
