TRANSFORMERS Spin-Off BUMBLEBEE Casts Two Villains

First Look: ‘Bumblebee’ reveals details of two new Decepticon trackers

Respectively, they are Shatter, who will be voiced by Angela Bassett and Dropkick, voiced by Justin Theroux. Since the film's set in 1987, the creative team gets to have a little more freedom in the cars they choose, so rather than top-of-the-line, modern, mega-roadsters like a Bugatti Veyron or a Lamborghini Aventador, Bumblebee features a red Plymouth Satellite and a blue AMC Javelin alongside the title Beetle. The first image of these villains, who are tacking Bumblebee throughout the events of the film, are front and center in the exclusive first look.

Set in the yesteryear of 1987, the new Transformers film (out December 21) finds the wounded yellow Autobot taking shelter with a teenager mechanic (Hailee Steinfeld) while trying to avoid two Decepticon trackers. Bumblebee will be in attendance at San Diego Comic Con and will roll its way into theaters later this year. The trailer of Bumblebee featured a third Deception, one who happens to take on the form of a red fighter jet. Dropkick will be voiced by the Leftovers Justin Theroux and Shatter will be voiced by none other than the unbelievable Angela Basset.

Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) from a script by Christina Hodson, Bumblebee stars Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Pamela Adlon, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, Ricardo Hoyos and Gracie Dzienny.

Although the film focuses only on this trio of Decepticons, the filmmaker promises these two will have more personality than usual. "This is a more personal, intimate, and character-driven story, so it felt right to keep the villain plot relatively simple and contained".

In other words, there is more to Shatter and Dropkick than meets the eye.

Bumblebee is now slated to hit theaters on December 21, 2018.
