XO Music Fest, Featuring T.I. and Ludacris, Canceled

XO Fest never got hands in the air as planned

The remains of last year's Fyre Festival are still smouldering away, but judging by the latest clusterfuck to come out of the United States, promoters haven't learned a damn thing. Headliners-at least allegedly-were set to include Ludacris, T.I., Funk Flex, Mistah F.A.B., and Vanilla Ice, pictured above doing something I can't fully comprehend. Organizers teased attractions like foam pits, an indoor skating rink, and an "interactive bounce arena".

Tickets for the three-day festival ranged from $375 to $2,495, meanwhile several managers tell R.S. that the festival failed to provide artists compensation, written contracts, or any details.

It all seemed too good to be true - and, of course, it was.

However, earlier this week some artists in the lineup said they were pulling out of the festival, alleging issues with pay and logistics.

"This company lead numerous artists to believe this was a legit concert, signed contracts, used our images and names (which btw was against contract stipulations) to sell tickets, but never confirmed with financial contractual agreements", the singer Trinere wrote on Facebook.

Months prior to the cancellation, XO organizers called suspicion around the event "fake media".

Officials with the Contra Costa Event Park announced the news of the extinguished music fest this morning, in a press release posted to Facebook. "It was fraud from the start", one booker told R.S. It was fraud from the start. The media is trying to cause issues for us for no apparent reason. Then, it was discovered that XO's mystery promoter, Sami Habib, had recently been arrested for a high-end real-estate scam. Contra Costa's CEO Joe Brengle released a statement saying Habib and World Class Entertainment Inc. will be handling refund requests. The festival also claimed that Ludacris would headline, despite his tour schedule having him booked at another festival that same weekend; it also listed Sirius XM as a sponsor, which Sirius denied to R.S. Its website is now offline, and they haven't updated any of their social platforms since Wednesday.
