Zsa Zsa, the Minnesota bulldog recently crowned the 'World's Ugliest Dog,' dies

Just over two weeks after she was crowned the World's Ugliest Dog, Zsa Zsa, an English bulldog with a penchant for pink and a perpetually lolling tongue, has died.

Megan Brainard, a resident of Anoka, Minnesota, brought her home after seeing her photo on a pet adoption website, and named her after the Hollywood star Zsa Zsa Gabor.

A news release announcing Zsa Zsa's victory in late June in Petaluma, California, said: "Nine years young with a swaggering tongue, Zsa Zsa delivered a shower of slobber as she claimed this year's title". "Sweetest dog I've ever met". Zsa Zsa's fans even wore shirts with her face on them.

"From the moment we saw her attractive face, we knew we would be her forever home", Brainard said.

Brainard said Zsa Zsa never really showed much excitement, but that she knew she was special. She spent the first five years in a puppy mill in Missouri before she was put up for auction and bought by a rescue group.

Zsa Zsa was up for the title of Ugliest Dog against some fierce competition: a blackhead-covered Chinese crested-dachshund mutt, a bulldog mix with excess wrinkly skin and a Pekingese named Wild Thang.
