Arjun makes int’l debut picks a wicket

Colombo/Bhubaneswar: Arjun Tendulkar, son of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, announced his arrival in global age group cricket in style by picking up his first wicket on Day 1 of his debut.

Arjun Tendulkar made a good first impression on his India U-19 debut on Tuesday, claiming a wicket in his second over on Day 1 of the first youth Test against Sri Lanka U-19 in Colombo. India U-19 were 92/1 in reply. Mishara had gone off to a breezy start: his 11-ball 9 included 2 fours. The 18-year-old left-arm fast bowler picked up a wicket off the final ball of his second over as batsman Kamil Mishara was caught plumb in front.Earlier, Sri Lankan skipper Nipun Dananjaya won the toss and opted to bat. At Lunch, Sri Lanka U-19 were 95/3 from 26 overs, with left-arm pacer Mohit Jangra and left-arm spinner Harsh Tyagi chipping in with a wicket each.

As things panned out, the stylish left-hander was left behind and his best friend became the best batsman in the World.

At stumps on the first day, India U-19 were strongly placed at 92 for one.

After watching Arjun taking his maiden scalp in worldwide cricket, former India cricketer and Sachin Tendulkar's childhood friend Vinod Kambli took to Twitter and posted an emotional message.

"Tears of joy rolled down when I saw this, have seen him grow up and put in the hard work in his game".

India will be playing two youth test matches against the Lankans in this tour with the second test match scheduled to begin from July 24. However, Vinod Kambli was the happiest person after watching him pick his first wicket and wished him a lot of success in his career.
