AirAsia named world's best low-priced airline for 10th straight year

CEO Goh Choon Phong was delighted when he accepted the top award in London today.

Air Canada was named Best Airline in North America, while Air Transat was named Best Leisure Airline in the World.

AirAsia was named world's best low-priced airline (ranked 22nd overall), the 10th year in a row it has won the award. The unpaid survey, which covered more than 335 airlines, measured 49 parameters ranging from boarding procedures to seat comfort to the quality of service.

Other notable accolades include China Southern Airlines winning the World's Most Improved Airline, continued success for Garuda Indonesia being named the World's Best Cabin Crew, and Qatar Airways as the World's Best Business Class.

This is the second consecutive year Air Canada has won the Best Airline in North America award. Airlines do not pay to enter the awards, according to Skytrax.

It previously won in 2004, 2007 and 2008 and is the first time in ten years that they won it again.

Al-Mohanna added: "The Skytrax award is a result of flynas' strategy, which is based on providing the best customer service such as, the first travel insurance service in Saudi Arabia and naStream service that was launched on the 1st of July 2017 via passengers' personal smart devices".

The World Airline Awards were introduced in 1999 to provide a customer satisfaction study that was truly global. There are no charges for airline use of the award logos and results. Since its launch, flynas has successfully carried more than 38 million passengers from its bases in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Abha.

Organizers point out that survey entries were screened to identify IP and user information, with duplicate, suspect or ineligible entries deleted.

To do this, the airline has embarked on a three-year transformation plan which was launched just over a year ago. The highest nationality increase in the 2018 survey was Chinese customers with an additional 3.5 million entries.
