'Utterly ridiculous': Putin denies U.S. election meddling in tense interview

Trump Openly Sided With Putin On Election Meddling In An Odd Press Conference

Intelligence officials publicly broke from the president's comments about Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign.

But Republican Senator Rand Paul defended Trump, telling CNN: "Absolutely I'm with the president on this; the (US) intelligence community was full of biased people".

"The president must appreciate that Russian Federation is not our ally", Ryan, R-Wis., said in a statement.

And in a press conference Monday with Putin at his side, Trump dismissed his own intelligence chiefs' conclusion that Putin himself oversaw the effort to damage Trump's Democratic election rival Hillary Clinton.

"Our relationship with Russian Federation has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of US foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!"

Seated in Helsinki's ornate Gothic Hall, Mr Putin appeared to slouch in his chair and looked off to the side at times on Monday, avoiding eye contact with Mr Trump at the start of their high-profile talks. For the president, it seems any conversation about foreign meddling is an attack on his claim to the office. "I don't think that's so. because he's already a politician", he added. Putin declined to take the copy from Wallace, and the two men repeatedly talked over one another as the Russian president sought to rebuke the United States intelligence community's widespread assessment that Moscow interfered in the 2016 election with the aim of boosting Trump and damaging Hillary Clinton's candidacy.

"They said they think it's Russian Federation".

After all, there was little love lost between Putin and Trump's opponent, former Secretary of State Clinton, who had grown increasingly critical of his government's actions in Ukraine and Syria.

Russian President Vladimir Putin Monday once again denied anyone from his country attempted to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, and insisted that he had no compromising information about President Donald Trump.

"The Russian state has never interfered and is not going to interfere into internal American affairs, including election process", he said during his opening remarks.

"President Trump's weakness in front of Putin was embarrassing, and proves that the Russians have something on the President, personally, financially or politically".

Trump delivered what amounted to a warm embrace to the man who for years has been isolated by the USA and Western allies for Russia's activities in Ukraine, Syria and beyond.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell gave his support to the United States intelligence community, but he did not answer a question on whether he would tell Trump that he disagreed with him. Dealing with two nuclear nations.

When asked why so many of his critics wind up dead, Putin is blaming troubles with crime in Russian Federation and noting the US has struggled, too, citing John F. Kennedy's assassination and clashes between police and civilians. "He continued to maintain that it was illegal to annex it".

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin and his trademark macho posture converged with President Donald Trump and his classic power stance as the leaders met on the world stage in Finland.

"Please get this rubbish out of your heads", the Russian leader said. "I will say this - I don't see any reason why it would be", Mr Trump said. Marco Rubio of Florida, warned that while Trump may feel that he can achieve a better working relationship with Putin by being nice to him, that's unlikely to work. Trump passed it over to his wife, and said they'd give it to their soccer-loving 12-year-old son, Barron.
