68% of Republicans approve Trump's handling of summit, poll finds

Following the two leaders' press conference in Helsinki, Finland, on Monday, some pundits and Democratic lawmakers suggested that Trump was "treasonous" or a "traitor" for appearing to side with Putin, rather than with the USA intelligence community, on Russian meddling in the 2016 elections.

This time they came from the White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders who claimed that when the President said "no" he was declining to take further questions, not disagreeing with his own intelligence chiefs.

"I have felt very strongly that, while Russia's actions had no impact at all on the outcome of the election, let me be totally clear in saying that, and I have said this many times, I accept our intelligence community's conclusion that Russia's meddling in the 2016 election took place", he said, but added, "It could be other people, also".

Putin also made concrete proposals to Trump about resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Interfax news agency reported, citing Russia's ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov.

Trump also said US treatment of Russian Federation had been "foolish" before he came into office, and that held hold "both countries responsible" for declining relations.

In 2007, shortly after becoming Speaker of the House, Pelosi traveled to Syria to meet with dictator Bashar al-Assad (above), to show that the US was capable of using diplomacy and not merely war as a tool of foreign policy in the Middle East. He just said it's not Russian Federation.

If Putin did take the risk and come to the U.S. for a summit, it will not be his first visit since he has ruled Russian Federation, something the White House was emphasising this week.

'I said the word would instead of wouldn't, ' he says regarding Russian interference in 2016 USA election.

Trump tweeted on Thursday that he looked forward a "second meeting" with Putin and defended his performance at Monday's summit, in which the two leaders conferred on a range of issues including terrorism, Israeli security, nuclear proliferation and North Korea.

In fact, committee Democrats tried to question Butina, but the Republican majority apparently shut it down so she wouldn't "tarnish" the National Rifle Association, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Thursday on CNN's New Day.

President Trump is in the process of inviting Russian President Vladimir Putin to come to Washington, D.C., this fall to continue the talks they started in Helsinki earlier this week.

'Coats has gone rogue, ' a White House official told the Washington Post.

He clarified remarks he made at a news conference after the meeting, in which he said he saw no reason why Russian Federation would meddle in the 2016 United States election - despite U.S. intelligence concluding just that. He mentioned London-based financier Bill Browder, a onetime investor in Russian Federation who said he exposed corruption there.

Earlier Mr Trump rejected a proposal by Mr Putin that Russian Federation be allowed to question USA citizens.

"OK. That's going to be special", he said, laughing. However, the Russian side is ready to ameliorate the climate between Washington and Moscow because it affects world stability so much. The official did not specify if that meant Russia's interference in U.S. elections.

"The Summit with Russian Federation was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media".

Trump's comments come at the end of a week of headline-grabbing utterances and clarifications about the president's position on Russian Federation.
