Novichok victim discharged from British hospital

Mr Rowley was admitted to hospital with Dawn Sturgess, who died on July 8, on June 30 after the pair became exposed to the deadly nerve agent.

"Charlie has been through an appalling experience most of us could never imagine", she said.

On Thursday - 10 days after United Kingdom authorities launched a murder investigation into Sturgess' death - police identified two suspects in the poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and daughter Yulia, a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN. "Today is a very welcome milestone in his recovery".

Ms Sturgess later died on 8 July and a murder inquiry has been launched.

Novichok attack victim Charlie Rowley has been discharged from Salisbury District Hospital.

Matthew, from Warminster, Wilts, said his brother recalled that Dawn had sprayed the perfume on both of her wrists.

"In the past four and a half months, our hospital has treated all five victims while the world looked on and yet we have never closed our doors to the public".

He reiterated that the public should not pick up items such as syringes, needles, cosmetics or objects made of plastic, metal, or glass.

Ms Wilkinson added that Mr Rowley had been decontaminated to ensure the nerve agent could no longer affect him or anyone who comes into contact with him.

Last week, it was revealed that investigators had identified, from CCTV footage, Russian nationals that were suspects in the poisoning of the Skripals.

She said Public Health England has determined that Rowley "poses no risk to the public" now that he is out of the hospital.

The second round of nerve agent poisonings put the towns of Amesbury and Salisbury, where Sturgess lived, on edge as more than 100 counterterrorism officers searched for the source of the Novichok.

Wilkinson said that while Rowley had been discharged, it was a "day tinged with sadness for everyone" as they remembered Sturgess.

'We wish him the best with his ongoing recovery.

Investigators said last week that they had identified the small bottle found in Rowley's home as the source of the poison.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons earlier this week said its inspectors had collected samples in the Amesbury case and were analysing them.

On Thursday, a coroner's inquest was opened and adjourned for mother-of-three Ms Sturgess.

Yesterday's hearing was told "10 times the amount of Novichok the Skripals were exposed to" was left inside a discarded perfume bottle somewhere around Salisbury city centre.
