Foetus found on American Airlines plane at LaGuardia Airport

A cleaning crew discovered the fetus in the a bathroom of a flight that arrived in New York from Charlotte N.C. late Monday night local media reports

An investigation is under way at La Guardia Airport in Queens after a cleaning crew found a dead fetus on a plane inside a hangar Tuesday morning.

A cleaning crew discovered the fetus in the bathroom of a flight that arrived in NY from Charlotte, N.C., late Monday night, PIX11 reports.

The Airbus A321 out of Charlotte, North Carolina was in a hanger when a cleaning crew made the discovery at about 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The fetus was believed to be five or six months along.

Part of that cooperation is turning over video recordings from the plane to determine who might have been in the restroom before passengers left Monday night, the airline source told the Observer.

"As we continue to learn more about this tragic and sensitive situation, we are actively cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation", the airline's spokesman said in a statement.

The account later tweeted to a frustrated customer that planes may be delayed "due to the medical needs of a customer".

The Port Authority deferred questions to the Queens DA's Office, which said it was looking into the matter.

Officials at American Airlines said they were co-operating with the authorities.
