Big-spending Everton snap up Barcelona duo

Barcelona confirmed the deal for Gomes that will see Everton pay the Portugal worldwide midfielder's wages for the full season, while also paying a loan fee of £2m (€2.25m).

Mina will join Everton on a permanent deal for a fee in the region of £27m, having attracted interest from Manchester United and Lyon earlier in the window.

Bernard was the first to be announced on a free transfer after his contract with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk ran out at the end of the past season.

In the immortal words of one Larry David: preeeetty... preeeeetty... pretty good.

However, Manchester United were put off by the excessive demands made by the player's agents, which ultimately resulted in them pulling the plug on the move.

'It is important that the club want to fight for something, ' Mina told evertontv.

A loan fee of around £2million was agreed, with Everton also picking up the cost of the player's wages. When I found out about this opportunity and what the manager wanted out of me I was happy.

"Everton is historically the fourth most successful club in England", said Bernard.

"I don't know anything at the moment but if he were to come here he would be very welcome and he would help the team a great deal".

Barcelona confirmed defender Yerry Mina has signed for Everton.

However, according to Sky Sports News, it appears that the Toffees have beaten their Premier League rivals to his signature after he underwent his Everton medical in Barcelona on Thursday afternoon.
