Hear Dave Grohl's New 23-Minute Instrumental, "Play"

Hear Dave Grohl's New 23-Minute Instrumental,

According to an announcement, the goal is to celebrate "the rewards and challenges of dedicating one's life to playing music".

Dave Grohl has unveiled Play, a new self-directed mini-documentary centered around his one-man recording of a 23-minute instrumental played live on seven instruments.

"Nowadays, seeing my own kids start to play music and take lessons, it brings me back to the time when I was their age, chipping away at it and learning from my mistakes", Grohl says in the featurette that precedes the music. It is presented as an online interactive experience where fans are given the options of watching the mini-doc and Grohl's performance as is; focusing on one particular instrument; and/or downloading the corresponding sheet music.

Foo Fighters recently hit the United Kingdom for a series of stadium shows and will soon be seen headlining their mini-festival CalJam on October 6th.

Play then segues into the titular 23-minute instrumental recording. Explore "Play" by choosing which audio and video you'd like to experience.

Also up for grabs are the music sheets, the input lists, and (if you're feeling really geeky) a floor plan of the live room Grohl played in.

Grohl teased the project earlier this year, saying: "I'll hit play and the clock will start ticking".

For more information about the project, visit the Roswell Films website.
