Meyer cut off from Ohio State players, coaches during investigation

Thinking out loud about the Reddit post Ohio State fans can’t stop talking about Talk It Out Wednesday

As the Ohio State investigation of Urban Meyer unfurls, Wann doesn't need to step outside his Kentucky home to solicit opinion on the coach's handling of his former assistant Zach Smith and accusations of domestic violence toward his ex-wife Courtney Smith. Ohio State announced that Meyer would be put on administrative leave on August 1 and Meyer admitted Friday that he knew of the allegations against Smith in 2015.

The Lynn Bruce mentioned above is Zach Smith's mom, who claimed to Snook that Courtney Smith vowed years ago to "take Zach down and take Urban Meyer down with him". His ex-wife, Courtney Smith, believes Meyer knew of the 2015 incident involving her and Smith, but didn't act.

"She told me that not one time, but in fact she said it several times over the years", [Lynn Bruce, Smith's mother] said. "And this is exactly what she did".

Reached this afternoon, Tina Carano would only communicate via text messages and backed Lynn Bruce's version.

"She has been planning this for some time".

As far as ever hearing her daughter say she would "take Zach down", [Tina Carano] replied, "Yes".

The story has reportedly been corroborated by Courtney Smith's mother.

In a media blitz following Meyer's statement Friday, Zach Smith said he was out recruiting in 2015 when he got a call from Gene Smith saying that he needed to return to Columbus after Courtney had gone to the police. "I do not believe he actually intentionally swung or punched her ... no".

Snook's entire report can be seen here.

Meyer, placed on administrative leave shortly after McMurphy's second report, later said in a statement he knew about the alleged 2015 incident and followed proper protocol in reporting it at Ohio State.

Meyer will also not be allowed on school property during the investigation, which could be completed within two weeks.
