Premier League side interested in signing Kieran Trippier

Gareth Southgate Manager of England speaks with Kieran Trippier of England after the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia 3rd Place Playoff match between Belgium and England at Saint Petersburg

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly joined the race for Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier.

He managed to chip in with nine assists for Spurs last season from full-back to highlight his attacking quality and he was England's set-piece specialist this summer.

And it appears United now see him as a potential long-term solution at Old Trafford.

The Bury-born defender began his career with rivals Manchester City, progressing through their youth system.

Trippier has transformed into one of the best right-backs around under Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and proved that at global level.

The 27-year-old right back was one of England's most consistent performers at the tournament in Russian Federation, as Gareth Southgate's men reached the semi-finals.

United are looking at successors to Antonio Valencia, with the Ecuadorian now 33 years of age.

Tottenham are yet to make a signing in this window, which shuts on Thursday, and will be reluctant to lose a player of Trippier's calibre.

The largest active rumour places Real Madrid back Marcelo at Juventus, which would then, in turn, send current Juve left-back Alex Sandro to PSG.

French club PSG have lost Brazilian right back Dani Alves to injury and are thought to be in the hunt for a replacement, while Italian champions Juventus are keen to add further talent and support to their ranks following their high-profile capture of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid are also seeking a right back and the fact that the European window does not close until the end of the month may keep Spurs on tenterhooks.
